Orlando Pride NWSL forward Barbra Banda, who currently leads the National Women’s Soccer League in scoring, suffered a noncontact injury during a 3-1 victory against Bay FC on Friday night. Banda was substituted after the injury, and a Pride spokesperson indicated that the club would not provide further updates on her condition immediately. Banda, who plays for the Zambian women's national team, has been a standout player this season, scoring 11 goals in just 12 games. Her performance in the match included two goals, with her first being the fastest scored by Orlando this season. The match was briefly delayed due to weather conditions, but Banda's contributions helped secure the win for the Pride. In the 78th minute, the match was paused when Banda went down, visibly emotional as she left the field. The Pride had already used all five substitutions, forcing them to finish the match with ten players. Manager Seb Hines praised Banda's return to form after a season-ending injury last year, noting her improved finishing technique. This victory marks the Pride's last match before the league's summer break, as they currently sit seventh in the standings with 17 points. Despite a slow start to the season, the team has gained momentum, winning their last two matches. Banda has been instrumental in the Pride's scoring, contributing to all but six of their 18 goals this season.
